thanks for the reply. I was hoping I could get rid of all traces of sql server without actually re-building the box. to do this is it simply a case of un-installing and then manually deleting all directories / program startups shortcuts / and registry keys. appreciate re-building is the best solution but I'd prefer not to have to do this, these are only test boxes! cheers martin. Hi, I have been tasked with setting up a sql server 2008 active-passive cluster. To start with I have been giving two windows server 2008 servers for development / testing. windows failover clustering and MSDTC has been added to these servers. I set up the servers and things worked, but no like I was expecting. I used the sql server 2008 setup.exe to remove each sql server from the cluster. however I noticed that although he removal process removed the database engine it left all the tools / configuration managers ect behind. my question is, how can i remove sql server 2008 entirely from each server, when I say entirely i mean all directories / registry settings / any entries in the clustering manager etc. basically I want to bring the servers back to the condition that they were in before I started. If you really want to bring the back, why not wipe them Very effective in starting clean for a new cluster. Rgds, edwin. many thanks in advance. cheers martin. |
