Default Database Maintenance Plan (Performance) - 12-11-2003 , 01:33 PM

I have several tables that are heavily fragmented in the
database. The database maintenance plan I have selected
the Optimization and Integrity features that runs weekly
with the reorganize data and index pages set. I also have
the Integrity selected to check database integrity and
includes indexes.

This is a High-Availability Cluster SQL Server 2000
development system that will be moving to production very
soon.

What database actions occur from my database maintenance
plan with the optimization and integrity selected?

What others items would you recommend to enhance
performance?

Thank You,

Dean

It'd say it depends ... right now, you haven't rolled it
out in produciton, so you don't know your usage unless
you've stress tested the system. Once it is in
production, you will have a better idea and over time, no
matter what, what you will do will change since the usage
will change over time.

If the DMP does not necessarily do what you want, I
suggest looking at resources like the SQL 2K Performance
Tuning Guide and come up with your own things to do based
on what you find.

Without more analysis, I can't be more specifc. Sorry!
