Default Cross over cable for private n/w - 02-15-2004 , 10:46 PM

Why do we use a cross over cable and not a straight cable for the private
n/w of a cluster? What is the difference between the 2 ?

NIC cards and Network switch/hub ports are reverse to each other. To
connect two NICs you have to reverse the wire since the port is not
reversed.
