Did you try to connect to the same instance from the same computer using
Query Analyzer or sqlcmd.exe? Try a different tool to see if you can connect
to the instance at all.

SQL 2k5 on Win 2k3, all fully patched. CLustering is enabled and working, but
when I attempt to log on to the CSA app, I cannot change to the virtual
server name, when I enter the name (FQDN, simple name) i get the error:
Computer xxxx does not exist on the network, or the computer cannot be
configured remotele. Verify that the remote computer has the required Windows
Management Instrumentation components then try again"
The name xxxx is in DNS and I can ping it.

If I use the IP address, i get the following error:
"You cannot configure surface are of clustered sercies by connect to a
computer name. Connect tot he cirtual server to configure clustered services"
I know that the IP resolves back to the Host in this instance.

Anyone have an idea why the darn CSA app won't resolve the name? I've tried
silly things like: tcp:xxxx and xxxx:1433 and others, still no resolution.
thanks
