Default Configuration block version nnnnn is not a valid version number - 06-10-2008 , 02:43 PM

When failing over to a passive node a customer is getting this error in the
SQL Error Log:

"Configuration block version nnnn is not a valid version number. SQL Server
is exiting. Restore the master database or reinstall"

However, it is the same master database running on the activer node.

Any idea what can cause this error?

Thanks.
