Default Clustering Security - 07-03-2003 , 09:12 AM

I am running SQL Server 2000 Enterprise sp2 + hotfixes on Win2K sp4
server.
I see from documentation that in configuring SQL Server
2000 for clustering, I can't remove the BUILTIN/Administrators account.
Am I able to scale back the security on this account so that it doesn't
have sa equivalent privleges yet still enable clustering to function
properly?

"You should not remove the BUILTIN/Administrators account from SQL
Server. The ISALIVE thread runs under the context of the cluster service
account, and not the SQL Server service account. The cluster service
must be part of the administrator group on each node of the cluster. If
you remove the BUILTIN/Administrators account, the ISALIVE thread will
no longer be able to create a trusted connection, and you lose access to
the virtual server."
