Default Clustering - 07-09-2003 , 01:18 PM

Hi - I'm just about to take my final MCSE exam, and have
been confused by conflicting information in the stuff I've
been reading. What I need to know is... can SQL server be
clustered, without having to use W2K Advanced Server or
W2K Datacentre Server? Thanks...

Thanks very much Geoff, that confirms what I'd originally
thought, I can now confidently discard the
latest 'training material' and be more confident in what
I've already learned... cheers!

Patrick.

No. SQL Clustering is an add-on application on top of
MSCS clustering in
Advanced Server or DataCenter. SQL Clustering is only
available in SQL
Enterprise Edition.

You need either Win 2K advanced server or datacentre
server or NT Server 4.0, Enterprise Edition (sp5 and above)
