Default Cluster service won't start on Passive Node after reboot - 10-07-2008 , 08:49 AM

Hello

After a reboot (following an SSIS install) the cluster service won't start
on my passive node. I see this error in the system log:

Cluster service node initialization failed with error 2147746132

... and lots of these errors:

The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation
permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{73E709EA-5D93-4B2E-BBB0-99B7938DA9E4}
to the user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE SID (S-1-5-20). This security
permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

any help appreciated.
thanks

First make sure the WMI service is running.

If it's running then open up component services on the box under
administrative tools, and expand the DCOM config. Go to the entry for
"Microsoft WMI Provider Subsystem Host" right click and select properties.
Click on the security tab. Look at the Launch and Activiation settings. If
they are set to customize click Edit and add the Network Service account
there. If use default is checked then click customize and edit then add in
the administrators group, local system, network service, interactive, and
system. Then you should be good to go.
