Default changing IP address - 12-10-2003 , 06:24 AM

Hi, I will have to change whole IP structure (different IP address and
different network mask) in my company and it also means to change an IP
address of cluster on MS Win2000 SP3. On the cluster is running MS SQL
Server 2000 SP2 and MS Exchange 2000. I have been told that I will have
to change some values in registry. Is it true or Is there any safe
procedure how to change IP address of cluster?

Well, from a basic SQL Server level, the only way to
change the IP is to re-run setup. This is documented in
KB 244980, as well as many other places.

Changing the IP for the underlying Windows server cluster
is covered here http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=kb;en-us;230356.

I cannot speak to Exchange.

By no means should you be in the registry to do this.
