Default Cant see all drive in SQL part 2 - 02-16-2009 , 08:52 PM

Hi
I manage to add disk in SQL Server Resources. In Dependencies tab, i select
all the available disk that need to be appear in SQL Server. Below are the
list from the dependencies tab :

AND/OR Resource
Cluster Disk 6
AND Cluster Disk 4
AND Cluster Disk 7
AND Cluster Disk 2
AND Name: SQLCluster
AND Cluster Disk 5

Which are :
Cluster Disk 6 = K
Cluster Disk 4 = H
Cluster Disk 7 = J
Cluster Disk 2 = F
Cluster Disk 5 = I

The question here is, when i go to SQL Server Management Studio, and i want
to attach new database, from the ADD button, when i click, i can see all the
Disk Drive in SQLCLUSTER which are :
+ F:
+ H:
+ I:
+ J:
K:

The mystery here is why my Disk K is reside in Disk J instead of another
disk (F , H and I are listed in their own partition...
It sort of the Disk K was created in Disk J....
How to list so the Disk K so it will appear with +K ......

If J and K are on the same LUN\physical disk, then they are inseparable from
a cluster point of view and are always bound together.

Hi George
J and K on the different physical LUN. But the problem is solved when i
rescan all the disk. First i rescan all the disk in disk management.
Then i go to SQL Server Resources, go to dependencies, delete the disk J and
K and add again.
Then i go back to SQL server management studio, and try to attach database,
i can see all the disk in a different location..problem solved i guess

Sometimes different nodes will assign different IDs to the same disks. Use
one node to set everythign then rescan from all the other nodes. That
generally fixes the crossed up disk IDs.
