Default adding nodes - 12-28-2003 , 12:41 PM

hi,

I installed sql 2000 on a one-node win2003 cluster. now i want to add a node. the mscs finds and adds the node fine and non-sql related groups can failover and back no problem. when i try to install sql2000 using the instructions from microsoft
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...ering_084y.asp
I get to step 7, click next, and the installation just stops and the screen closes.

the sqlsp.log file only indicates 'installation failed' with no error message. can anyone help please!

You will need to look at sqlstp.log and not sqlsp.log.

For more information on troubleshooting a failed setup on a cluster, please
refer to

Troubleshooting SQL 2000 Virtual Server and Service Pack Setups for
Failover Clustering
http://support.microsoft.com/default...ebcasts/wcd020
703/wcdblurb020703.asp

NOTE: After adding the second node to the existing SQL Server 2000 virtual
server, reapply the service pack for SQL Server 2000 [ as the second node
(new node) will have only the RTM binaries whereas the first node (existing
node) will have the service pack binaries and there will be a mis-match.]
