Default Active/Passive failover-Failed? - 10-14-2004 , 08:57 AM

Hello,
I have an A/P W2K3 Cluster with SQL 2K-SP3. When I fail it over to the
passive node, only the virtual server name is available, not the SQL IP Addr
I have a A/P NT 4 Cluster with SQL 7 and the name and Addr fail over..
In the cluster Admin, both servers are listed unbder the SQLIP addr...

Thoughts?

Thank You,

Tony B

Hi

Any errors in the OS event log?
If it does not fail-over correctly, it must be complaining about something.

Regards
Mike

Hello Tony,

Does all resources in the SQL group come online on the active node?
What happens when you move the SQL group to the passive node? From your statement above, you said that only the virtual server name is available, not SQL IP addr.
What do you mean? If any of the resources fail on the passive node then the default behavior will to retry 3 times and then it will move the full group to the other node. Is this
what is happening? Give more details.
