Default VS2003 client with SQL Server 2005 server - 03-20-2007 , 01:11 PM

Hi,

I'm about to start an evaluation of SQL Server 2005. The development
platform we use is Visual Studio 2003 - ie .NET 1.1.

I understand that Visual Studio 2005 probably integrates better and offers
more functionality - but we aren't doing that migration for a while yet. Is
it still possible to use VS2003 clients to connect to SQL Server 2005? Are
there any issues I should look out for, and whats the best approach to use in
terms of client software.

thanks - Delard

Hi,

no there are actually no issues. using the .NET FW 1.1 will not enable you
to use some of the new features liek query notification but all pre SQL 2005
functionality will be available to you.
