Default Transfer SQL 2000 Enterise Manager Client Server Registrations Fai - 08-01-2008 , 08:15 PM

I've just recvd a new laptop and am in process of re-installing the SQL 2000
client . I wanted to transfer all the server rregistrations and exported out
the registry key Hkey_current_user\software\microsft\microsoft sql
server\80\tools\sqlew\Registered Servers X.

I import the key sucessfully into the new PC but Enterprise manager
displays "(No Items) under each server category. I checked the registry key
in the new laptop and all the information regarding the server entries is
there.

I had also loaded SQL2005 client on the source computer.

What do i need to due to ge my SQL 2000 registered servers into Enterprise
Manager?

Hi,
Thank you for using Microsoft TechNet Newsgroup.

Regarding your question, I understand that you want to know how to have your SQL Server 2000 registered instances displayed in your Enterprise Manager which was newly installed on your
new laptop. You tried exporting the registry key and importing it to the new PC, however it did not work.
If I have misunderstood, please let me know.

Manually exporting registry key out and importing it to another machine is not a Microsoft support scenario. There are no documents saying that this method will work. I appreciate your
understanding on this and I recommend that you manually register your SQL Server instances from SQL Server Enterprise Manager.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Best regards,
Charles Wang
