Default SQL2005 License Limit... - 03-25-2007 , 08:00 AM

Say you have an SQL2005 Workgroup Edition server with per user licensing,
and lets say you have 5 user cals.

What happens when a 6th user tries to connect?

I initially thought you were asking about the licensing practices of which
that page describes in detail. If you mean physically what happens then to
the best of my knowledge the 6th user connects just like any others but you
would be in breach of the licensing agreement. I don't believe there are
any actual governors in terms of connections.

Thanks, I had already been all over the MS SQL site, and even into licensing
whitepapers.

Your answer makes sense as I imagine it would be difficult to control
connections without the risk of locking out valid users.
