SQL Server 2005 Installation

I was reinstalling SQL Server 2005. On Vista the message was about
incompatibility.
On XP Prof. SQL Server Setup Dialog Box shows Message "..scanning your
computer configuration" It never comes trough - hangs. I was trying to remove
SQL Server 2005 and then install again. But it hangs on the same place while
removing. Can not remove it. What to do? Please, help

On what process/definition it hangs? Do you have a computer connected to the
network?
