I am running into a problem where we have an SQL Server in a workgroup that I'll call WG1, and a client running Windows XP SP2 in a workgroup that I'll call WG2. The client is running Windows Firewall. When we use the SQL Browser to find servers, we don't see our server unless we disable the firewall. After adding some ports, we still couldn't see the server. When we place the client in WG1 with no other changes, we see the server just fine. I know that NETBIOS has some "issues" when trying to browse between workgroups and I'm assuming that this is related. What I'm looking for is a setting or hack to the Windows Firewall that will allow this SQL browsing across the different workgroups. Any help would be appreciated.
