Default Port 88 for SQL Server 2005 - 10-10-2007 , 03:03 PM






Can I use port 88 for SQL Server 2005, just wanted to confirm is it in used
by another application, or any tool where I can findout this?

You can use it but 88 is commonly used to run kerberos. To avoid any
conflicts you'll probably want to choose a port well above 1000 possibly
in the 2000 range.

To answer your other question about how to find out ports being used:
You may use: Netstat -a to list all the ports currently being used.
