Default ODBC and failing Connection to SQL - 03-24-2009 , 06:08 AM

Hi

We have 2 servers the same config that uses ODBC to connect to SQL2000
server and specifically a custom database. Until last week all was running
well, now one of the servers can not connect to this database.
We know the database is working as the other server is still functions.
We khow the ODBC works as we can connect to other databases from this server.
We use a specific port not the detault for communcating to the sql database.

In the ODBC connector client config (of the failed server) we have noticed
that if we can the dynamic option to the port specific, the server connects
successfully.
But this has not been setup on this server previously and also the other
working server has this set as dymanic.

Could anyone help and tell me what unlike before i have to put a specific
port.
Nothing has changed on these servers in terms of applications, patches,
service packs etc.

regards

Ian
