Default Native client compatibility - 12-03-2009 , 04:45 AM

I have questions regarding SQL Server Native Client.

Can I connect to SQL 2008 with SQL 2005 Native Client and if so are there
any limitations?

Can I connect to a SQL 2005 Server with a SQL 2008 Native client and if so
are there any limitations?

Thanks
Frede

From:
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...0Datasheet.pdf

Migrate from SQL Server 2005 Native Client as needed

Take advantage of SQL Server Native Client compatibility with SQL Server
2000, SQL Server 2005, and SQL Server 2008. Upgrade servers to SQL Server
2008 and continue to use SQL Server 2005 Native Client in client applications
where new or enhanced features in SQL Server 2008 are not required.

So, you may continue using the 2005 Native Client against 2008, as long as
you don't need new features, or you can use the new Native Client with your
2000 and 2005 servers. (You get to choose.)
