Default How to install client connectivity only? - 05-08-2009 , 05:37 AM

For clients accessing a MSSQL-Server I need to incorporate the installation
of the client connectivity only into my setup. I am not sure what´s the best
way to do this and would be glad for beeing enlighted.

TIA Bernd

Hi Bernd,

You can install the client tools for SQL Server via the command line. So you
can run a batch-script for doing that.
For more information regarding the syntax and setup files needed, please
check out the following BoL links:

SQL Server 2005
--------------------
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...9(SQL.90).aspx

SQL Server 2008
--------------------
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms144259.aspx

Cheers.

Thanks for that. However, I was in search for a single msi oder exe, without
the overhead of server and tools ond docs.

Hi Bernd,

Not sure if you found what you were looking for but you can get the client
only here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

It's one of the feature pack components.

Regards,

Pete
