Default Creating an ODBC connection - 07-13-2007 , 10:18 AM

When creating an ODBC connection to a SQL server, a handful of PC's do not
show a list of drivers to create a connection. To create the connection, I
go through Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Data Sources (ODBC). I then
select the System DSN tab and click Add. When I click Add, the list of
drivers does not propagate on 5 PC's in my domain. Repairing the XP
installation is the only fix that I can come up with. However it is too time
consuming. Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't really encountered this problem before I would check these the
following two things.

1) INI File in Windows Directory, ODBCINST.INI
2) Registery Key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\

Hopefully that leads you some where, thanks!

Some additional Info...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\ODBC Drivers
stores all the drivers installed on your computer.

Then Each Driver has a key under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\

that tells what the driver information is.

And all the information in registery is replicatred in the ODBCINST.ini file.

Thanks!
