Default Connecting to SSIS from Management Studio - 07-14-2009 , 08:00 AM

I have SQL Server 2008 client and Visual Studio 2008 installed on a PC I am
able to connect to all of the SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 servers using the
database engine connection but when I try to connect to a SQL 2005 server
using the Integration Sercices connection I get the following error:

Cannot connect to GY-SQL-01
Additional information
Failed to retrieve data for this request.
(Microsoft.sqlserver.Management.Sdk.Sfc)
Connect to SSIS Service on machine "GY-SQL-01" failed:
Class not registered

Does anyone know How I can get this to work. SSIS works for this server from
a PC with SQL 2005 client.

Sorry I don't have a definitive answer, but sometimes katmai and yukon tools
don't play well together. Perhaps this is one of those times.
If you like I can test it for you though and see if I can get it to work in
my environment.

It would be good if you can find out how to make VS 2008 and SQL Client 2008
co-exist. We have been trying to use the SQL 2005 client until recently but
SSIS does not work at all when you have VS 2008 on the PC, the SSIS component
dosn't get installed.

The only work around we have at the moment is to Remote Desktop the server
which is less than ideal.

Saw that the firewall is involved on the Windows Server 2008 for this event
on SQL Server 2008 (using SP1 slipstream install of SQL on a fully SP'd Win
Svr 2008 - all fresh installs). SSIS says service is not registered (no way
that is true) so when the error comes up that the Firewall says SSIS does not
have permission...

Application [svchost.exe]. Authentication failed. The user credentials were
not accepted by ISA Server. Verify that the user account running this
application has the required permissions.

changed logon startup of Integration Services to a domain service account
and the problem went away.
