Default client question - 07-18-2008 , 07:55 AM

not sure if this is the right group for this question...please redirect me
if not

Is thee a way the SQL Server Management Studio on my local computer so that
I can run queries, etc.?

I tried running setup from Disk 2 and thought it would do what I was trying
to do, but nothing showed up in all programs after running the install.

SSMS is a client tool that can be installed anywhere (client or server).
Regardless of where it is installed you can (given the proper permissions of
course) connect to any SQL Server instance installed either locally on that
machine or remotely on another. SSMS itself can not run the query it just
submits it to the server. So I am a little confused as to your question. Do
you already have a SQL Server instance with a database that you want to
connect to or are you asking if you can install a fresh instance?
