Default can i redistribute sqlserver applications - 05-08-2009 , 02:53 PM

Hello,

I asked this in another group, but haven't gotten an answer.

I have Visual studio 2008, and sql server express .

Can I build an application that uses and creates sql server databases, and
distribute it to users who may not have access to an sql server machine?

In the old days, i created access databases on the fly in the application.
I want do the same with sql server.

Any info would be appreciated.

Yes, SQL server 2008 express edition or SQL server 2005 express edition can
be redistributed with any application. Both the database servers are free to
use but have some limitations. Also, if we compare it with access, I then I
wanted to tell you that access database doesn’t need any other application
other then Microsoft jet drivers. But in case of Sql server, it needs Sql
server service running on pc to connect to Sql server database
