Details:

mipspro 7.43.
CFLAGS=-O3 -mips4.
options: ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/postgresql --without-readline
--disable-rpath.

Think you need to be complaining to your compiler vendor, not us.

A short-term workaround might be to use a less aggressive -O setting.
