When I open try to create a System DSN in ODBC Administrator the MySQL =
connection always ends up on the User DSN screen. In order for relationshi=
ps to work in Filemaker Pro I need the DSN to show up on the System DSN =
screen. What can be going wrong here?

Which version is this?

C/ODBC 3.51.20 contained a number of improvements that solved many of
the problems with C/ODBC on OS X.
