You must mean Jersey (Channel Islands)

I think there is a unique constraint on the central database holding the
licence plate number though so your problem won't happen
Did you actually read his post. He suggested the AutoNum ID generated
BY EACH CAR DEALER,
IOW, no central DB.

so did you see my answer to you VIN question?
I know you won't be staisdfied with it, but I don't want to be accused
of dodging the argument. The fact that I have given the answer several
times though might finally sink in.
