I propose to stick the vendor's autoincremented ID on the license plate, and be done with it. If two cars bear the same number, you can easily distinguish them by the color. I'm not a natural key nazi, after all (*) You must mean Jersey (Channel Islands) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British..._plates#Jersey I think there is a unique constraint on the central database holding the licence plate number though so your problem won't happen ![]() |
