Default Security Problem with MS Access - 10-27-2006 , 03:53 PM

Help. I have several .mdb files stored on a Network Storage Device and have
been opening and using them with Access for several months now. All of a
sudden, Access denies access to them 'unless I store them on my drive C'.
The error message I get is: "MS Access cannot open this file. This file is
located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site.". Naturally, I can
move them to drive C and use them but then I can't access the file from
another computer on the network. TIA

ask in a MS group, but I recall there is some lock file that might be
there that needs removed or fixed. Pardon my vagueness but when I ran
into this problem it was 6-7 years ago. I have managed to stay away
from any MS access databases since then.

HTH,
Ed

I assume that you have this fixed by now, since it has been a few days,
but just in case you haven't -- I had this problem a while back, using
XP SP2. I think that the solution is a checkbox on the file properties
page that says something like "Trust this file" or "Run anyway" or
something similar. It seems that Windows thinks the file is not safe,
but you can "tell" Windows that it is merely by changing the properties
page. Or at least that is the way I recall it. I could be wrong.

Good luck,

Michael
