I have a client that is using an old database called, Nutshell Plus II. The copyrights are from Claris Corp, 1989, and IRIS software in 1990. The database files have a '.db' extension to them. *In the process of moving the DOS-based database to a Windows machine where it could be backed up and possibly upgraded to a newer database, it became corrupted. |
*As dumbfounded as I was that this happened, |
it was more surprising that there was no backup, and that the customer has about 90% of his data in this database. |
*The utilities that came with the software, NUTUTILS, did nothing to help the matter. *I was able to find an older version of the database, about 8 months old, but at least it was something. *Does anyone know if there is a utility that can repair this database? *Is it possible to upgrade this database to a version that would bring it into the 21st Century? *I did some research and found that Nutshell was closely related to the earliest versions of Filemaker, though I believe it was only for the MAC. *Do you think an old version of Filemaker and/or a database such as dBase III would be able to import/convert the data from Nutshell? *Any help would be appreciated. *Thanks in advance.
