Hello all,

Can you guys please recommend a good sql books which mainly
concentrates on latest ansi standard. I do not want any vendor specific
sql books. I know later versions of Oracle supports ansi standard and I
want to learn ansi way of writing sql.

Thanks,
Prasad.

Well, NIST no longer does ANSI validation so the "latest" standard is quite
old. The 1996 book by Date & Darwen is somewhat theoretical and not all
vendors support all of it (e.g., subqueries in check constraints). I
imagine that Joe Celko will chime in with some other suggestions.

Allof my books are written with ANSI/ISO SQL. Rick van der Lans has an
excellent beginner's book that is good for SQL-92. If you read French
then get Frederic Brousaud's book which gets into SQL-99 extensions.

It's not a book, but you might take a gander at our comprehensive SQL Tutorial, online
at http://www.firstsql.com/tutor.htm. The tutorial is pure SQL92.
