Default Need A Program That Can... - 02-13-2004 , 10:40 AM

hey all--

situation: i work at a day care center. we are trying to setup a
database where you type in someone's name, and it comes up with their
info. and included in this info would be the years that they were in
the program. the program must also be able to tell us how many kids
were in each year, and if asked pull up a list of those who were in
for each year.

is there any program out there that can do this?

i'm sure once i have it i will be able to figure it out...

please email me with answers or questions at
beautiful.struggle (AT) nospam (DOT) fusemail.com (REMOVE nospam from my email
address

thanks,
keith s.

If you have Microsoft Excel, Lotus 1-2-3 or a similar spreadsheet you can
probably do most of what you want with that, provided that you haven't got
thousands of kids.

There are cheaper office suites if you haven't got that the above.

If the spreadsheet fails you, you can probably build a simple database, event
with just one table, yourself.

If you don't mind me saying so your specification is a bit vague. If you sketch
out what you want more precisely you will be most of the way to designing your
own database or spreadsheet.

How about using OpenOffice

www.openoffice.org

download it from there, will give you a good spreadsheet (as good as
the other one mentioned) and it's free.

Otherwise, go to www.sourceforge.net and check out the database stuff
there, with a bit of digging and poking you might find that somebody
has done something similar.

Just my 10 cents!
