Default migrating from interbase6 - 07-15-2003 , 07:44 AM

we are in need of migrating our apps (created in Delphi) from using
interbase 6. Our reason is that our next customer is going to produce 25
Mill transactions (of statistical data) per year.

Our experience with interbase 6 is that our queries (reports) are
slowing down below acceptance at about 18 mill records. Our present
solution is to cleanup and delete old data, regularly, something we're
not really pleased with.

I'm looking for experiences and/or opinions on what databaseserver to
switch to. I see our candidates to be:

- Interbase 7 (low porting costs, littlebit expensive)
- Firebird 1 or 1.5 (free, low porting costs, but is it really better
than interbase 6 ???)

- MSSQL (high porting costs, good at large dataamounts)
- Oracle (hight porting costs, expencive, good at large dataamounts)
- MySQL (free, high porting costs, no experience/opinions on it)
- PostgreSQL (free, high porting costs, no experience/opinions on it)
- Suggestions?

Thanks for your time,

Thanks for your reply. I think you're right, I've got some research and
testing ahead of me.

Well... July might be the best time for this kind of stuff
