Hello,

I am looking for recommendations. I need the following:
- A database engine that runs on Windows mobile
- I do not want a client, I want the Windows Mobile device to
contain the phsycal database, and to read/write to it. The Windows
Mobile device would be both the server and the client
- An embeded version would work well also.
- Free to distribute (the final application will be distributed on
thousands of mobile devices)

Does anyone have any suggestions?

You might look at Perst Lite for .NET Compact Framework. It's not free
(hey, we gotta may a buck, too) but we'll negotiate a fair/reasonable
distribution license.

Perst is an object-oriented database with C# and Java implementations.

if not, then you can have a look at hamsterdb(.com). It runs on
Windows CE and many other platforms.

hamsterdb is open source but also has commercial licenses (i'm the
author, btw)
