I know how a database is working, but I am not familiar with the
available software.

I am just working with Filemaker Pro with about 15 clients, and I am
trying to evaluate other database solutions.

As Filemaker offers a GUI (or front-end), what about other products? Do
they also provide a GUI or do I need extra software to access the database?

The software should run on a MAC and be able to create formatted
documents, like invoices or address labels, etc.

There are DBMS products like Oracle that have front end tools (Oracle
FORMS). For evaluation, I think you might check Oracle's web site for
a small version (I think it's called "Express Edition")

There might be MAC specific alternatives as well. (Phase Four??)

by 15 clients, do you mean:
15 users of one "database"?
OR
15 one users databases?
OR
something in between?
