Default Choosing DB Software advice needed - 12-05-2006 , 05:46 PM

Small (15 folks) engineering company looking to expand and use a DB to
track files, protect: folders, reports, photos, and files from deletion
and being misplaced. We also want to have a CRM package that will work
with Outlook. A big bonus would be finding files by a search for text.
Most of our files are word processor, spread sheet, PDF, AutoCAD, and
jpeg. Any advice is appreciated.

Sounds like you need a D/CMS, rather than a database - looked at
KnowledgeTree? http://knowledgetree.com/

Take a look at some of the Microsoft offerings....

SQL Server 2005
Microsoft CRM which totally integrates with Outlook.
Possibly Sharepoint Services

Why is it in IT that theres always one....

If you don't agree with me at least post something constructive and give a
reason.

And there are a ton of software that integrates with Outlook, some at
enterprise, others not.
