Default any decent free multiple db mgr software out there? - 04-04-2007 , 07:35 PM

I want to run queries, browse schemas, etc., and I want to be able to
connect to a bunch of different DB's with the same application -
Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.

I know commercial Embarcadero can do it. Any others?

Thanks!

I tried Aqua Data Studio. It could connect to multiple DB's (MySQL,
Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, ...) and could be run on multiple
OS (but needs a Java Runtime Environnement).

(I did not try the latest version which seems not to be a freeware
anymore...)

And another one, DbVisualizer (just forgot the free version in my previous
posting):

Open Office Base <http://www.openoffice.org/product/base.html> can do
this provided that the database has a JDBC driver and the three DBs
you list do have one. The Sun JDBC to ODBC driver allows you to use
Open Office Base with any database that has an ODBC driver. If your
database does not have a JDBC or ODBC driver you should probably
switch to a different database!

Microsoft Access is not free but most people running Microsoft Windows
already have Access installed. If you have it and you are running
Windows 2000 or subsequent then you can use it to connect to any
database that has an ODBC driver.

Java, particularly JEE.

It has a transaction-management library.
