How do I determine who has placed a record or file lock? Thanks.

Michael,
Unless your program keeps track of this, then the answer is dependent on the OS of the File Server. The solution also depends on whether you want this information "in" your program, or whether you just want to check it from a standalone utility - usually provided by the FS maker.

I'm getting very occaisional locking problem on FoxPro 2.6 for Unix. I
want to know what Fox thinks is going on. There are no other
legitimate locks on the file where a lock is being refused.

Michael,
I really can help anymore here - I've played with the utilities on NT 4.0/Windows 2000 and on a Novell file server, but never on Unix/Linux. Remember Fox just requests the file system to lock/unlock records/files - it's up to the OS to do what's necessary to honor these requests, and unfortunately every OS does it differently.

You may need to ask a Unix/Linux expert about this. You might want to start at http://www.dennisallen.com/ (or http://www.intergate.com/~dallen24/) - he knows FPU.
