Default VFP - not to france... - 08-25-2003 , 07:31 PM

Just got me VFP8.0
On my invoice it says:Not to France CD...

This version of VFP must be a great one. I've found a great feature
before opening the package!!!

:-)

Gene,
No, I believe it's because France won't allow the encryption level capability that comes with the standard VFP / MS package.

Bonjour Thomas Ganss

yup, VFP8 isn't allowed for retail in France because of this stupid law
about translation, and because of the buggy VFP3, fox lost too many users...
so that, MS didn't choose to translate it.

The translation of the package would be enough, but, according to Ken Levy,
the price was to expensive for the number of french fox users !!!

Anyway, one here can buy vfp8 on the web or in belgium, switzerland or so
.....

I proposed to MS France to engage my responsability of the translation so
that i could sell VFP8 in France but got no answer today...

about the encryption, afaik, it's allowed now in france.

AFAIR it was something about having to translate to french:
there are laws in France to keep the language clean...

I wouldn't mind if they wouldn't allow it, but why do they have to
block Microsoft's efforts in the United Nations to pass a resolution
calling for a new encryption in iRAQ?!?

Bonjour Eric den Doop

it means that, to "protect" the customers, the package (box) and the
documentation has to be translated... and that for any product/good/service
sold in france...
