Default VFP: Network Protection - 09-14-2005 , 06:02 PM

What do you advise for safe running of networked VFP apps?

UPSs on all systems is easy enough to figure out. Is there
anything else besides making sure that the network infrastructure
(NICs, cables, routers, etc.) are topnotch? Something that is maybe
not so obvious.

Sincerely,

Gene,

I've had best experiences when network infrastructure
where all of the same branche.

In the past I didn't bother but when I was in some kind of a fury ...
I bought all new Nic's,switches from the same supplier.
and the network traffic went better and more stable.
If this is really The Solution, I don't now but it sure helped me a lot.

regards
christophe

I agree with Christophe. To the extent you can manage it, "same everywhere"
will benefit you. In a network, reliability will never be better than the
weakest link.

Some people are surprised to learn that 802.11b/g wireless routers slow down
ALL traffic to b speeds if a b device is connected. Networks always go to
the lowest common denominator.
