Default VFP 9: Command Window Display - 10-15-2006 , 08:58 PM

I have run into an bothersome difference in VFP 9. I am
debugging an program and have a browse in the middle to look at a
generated cursor. The command window now displays over the browse.
This knocks out using a full-screen browse which I occasionally need.
If I click on the command window to move it, I can, but at the cost of
the browse disappearing.

Is there a setting that I am missing?

Sincerely,

Gene,

It sounds like the command window has the "dockable" option selected.
Right click the title bar of the command window and uncheck dockable.

Thank you! That was it, and I doubt I would ever have thought of
that. People actually dock the command window?

I dock the Command Window, Properties Window, and Data Session window
together. That gives me all three in a tabbed window.

I would prefer that it didn't force the window to always be on top,
but I like having all three always open in one place.

The other thing I like about having the command window dockable is it is not
constrained to the VFP desktop. I can move it completely out of the VFP
frame, yet still have access to it.

I always run VFP maximised myself.

I suppose: Cue the developer who puts the command window on the
other monitor.

Hi Gene -

I have a lot of tools spread across 2 lcd screens with my main dev
workstation.
It's sweet - you should try it.

I always run the below code when vfp9 starts to position everything the way
I prefer it:

ACTIVATE WINDOW debug
ACTIVATE WINDOW View
ACTIVATE WINDOW Properties
ACTIVATE WINDOW Document

DOCK WINDOW properties POSITION 4 WINDOW view
DOCK WINDOW document POSITION 4 WINDOW view
DOCK WINDOW command POSITION 4 WINDOW view

IF WEXIST('standard')
HIDE WINDOW standard
ENDIF
IF WEXIST('standard')
ACTIVATE WINDOW standard
ENDIF
