Default Top Margin for printing in Foxpro label. - 11-18-2004 , 12:17 PM

Hi all;

Is there a way to change the top margin for a label design in Foxpro
Dos? Is there a trick to tell the printer to put less of a top margin?
I'm using HP Deskjet 5650, and I need to print on labels that are
margined only 0.19" from the top.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Nope. Inkjet and laser printers have margins beyond which they
do not print. This can not be changed.

AK,
If you installed the complete FPD 2.6, then go to \GOODIES\PDRIVERS. You just need to update the P_CODES.DBF for this printer (or create a new one) and rebuild the GENPD.APP. You'll obviously also need all the printer dependent information, which the specific printer documentation (or manufacturer) should be able to supply.

In the case of labels, there may also be some information in the resource file (foxuser.dbf) that needs to be added or updated - LBLLAYOUT records. I don't recall the application that puts these records into the foxuser file.

Rick;

First, thanks you so much for being the lifeline of this newsgroup. I
see your name all over the place.
It's not just a Label issue. I also tried to do just

Set print on
? "ABC"
eject
set print off.

I still get the .75" top margin. The printer's specs say that the
physical margin limit is .1"

I don't use pdsetup etc in my reports/labels. If needed I send escape
codes directly to the printer.

I was wondering if there was an easy fix for this before I get into
coding and stuff. I may even write code that skips the first row of
labels altogether... I may not have any choice.

Thanks again,
AK.
