in valid event of a field,i call a function that displays certain error
messages depending on certain conditions.if some error msg is
shown(i.e. valid event fails),the focus remains in the current field
BUT.....a samll wait window appears saying "Invalid input".now how to
stop this message from VFP8???

Subclass the control to not return .F. when the VALID() method fails. For more details on frameworks, see my "previous" answer.
