silent email from vfp

Group,
How can I send a simple email (i.e. backup was successful) from my backup
program (which runs unattended each night). I don't want to use outlook or
express if possible, in fact I was hoping there might be a direct way to
email without going through them.

Try Blat; simple and free.

Hi Wade,

West-Wind's wwIPStuff sends an email message directly to the SMTP server.
Check it out at www.west-wind.com. If you've got Win2K or WinXP you may be
able to use CDO (Collaborative Data Objects).

Search about for BLAT.EXE, a (freeware) command line emailer which can be
run with the RUN command.

you can do it via smtp -- if you have west-wind or similar IP tools.

I have a "blat wrapper" (vcx) for blat.dll -- dont' do the exe -- that is more
hassle -- the dll works great.
