I haven't tested this in several years, but Fox USED to properly set DOS
ERRORLEVEL (for testing in .Bat files) to whatever your main program
RETURNs.

I need to pass a return code from VFP to a DOS program which invoked the

The DOS software manages and schedules programs (a product called
Control-M from
BMC).

Is it just a matter to return, say, -1 from VFP?

Control-M monitors running programs and reports completion/late
completion/failure/etc (it is, to all intent and purposes, a remote
operator).

Would such a DOS program pick up any field type returned?

You need to use the ExitProcess Win32 API function. See: Exiting Visual
FoxPro returning an error level
