Max length of variable in FoxPro

I am using FoxPro for DOS Version 2.6 or something. Does anyone know what is
the limit on the number of characters in a variable name?

In Fox 2.5/2.6, you can have fairly long variable names (I forget exactly
how long -- no error will occur), but only the first 10 characters are
significant.
