Default foxpro dos 2.5 - 10-14-2003 , 07:33 AM

Hello Guys,
I have this application under Foxpro 2.5 DOS.
The pb is when I run the command c:\foxpro25\foxprox to start the foxpro
command ,
it gives me the message : CS:EIP = 000FH : 0010BA42H Memory Protection Fault
!
It is under Windows 2000 .
what could be the reason for that ? The pb is that it is not giving this
every time....
let's say 8/10 ...
Please help !!!

(PS. I have noticed that when I map a network drive it most of the time
gives this error.
and When I do not make the mapping , most of the times it doesn't !!!
the command is net use z: \\server\shareFile

Thank you for your help !!!!

Pierre
What are your PIF settings for this shortcut? (Especially the Memory settings!)
Have you tried reinstalling or restoring from a backup the foxprox.exe file? Have you checked the (hardware) network connection from this (these?) workstations? Many times bad connections can cause problems. What OS are you running on the file server? What network client are you using?

Thank you for your answer.
here is my full setup.
My server has a win2k server.
the workstations are win2k Prof.
In fact , I have no pif files , what I have set is the path environment to
C:\FOXPRO25\
in each station so that it starts its local copy of fox instead of the
server's one.
now ,I go to command prompt , and if no mapping is set , (net use )
I enter fox and enter , it works fine.
Now If I map a drive first ( net use z: \\server\sharedfile ) and then I
issue the following commands
from the prompt command .
Z:
CD DATA
FOX
It hangs for couple of seconds , and then issues the error message ! )
And this from more than one workstation !! that's why Im disregarding
hardware failure...
The network connections are okay ,I have tested them many many times.
I tried to re-install the Foxpro files again and again ,...same thing...
Could it be a buffers settings in the config.nt file ???
But what dazzles me , is that it was working fine few days ago !!!
and No application or software has been added !!!
Please help !!

Pierre,
I guess I see it exactly the other way around - if no application or software has changed, then it would seem to be a network problem. It could be more network traffic - either due to heavier usage, a bad NIC that's requiring resending of packets or flooding the network with "junk", or some other component (cable, router, switch, hub, etc.) that's malfunctioning.

Also check for a new virus checker (or virus!) that may be adding additional overhead to the server.
