1. Can this problem be fixed for FoxproW 2.6? You seem to have the "divide by zero" problem. Yes it can be fixed. |
|
2. If we upgrade to a newer version of Foxpro, but keep the Win98 and Win2000 OS machines, what version will run under both OS's, and can we use our Fox source programs as presently written? Visual FoxPro 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 wil run on those. |

3. Is the command language still similar? Similar yes. The same, well not really. The OO approach means you |

Hi - My first time in a user group, please be gentle with me. Have been using Fox since before MS bought it. Using FPW 2.6, running under W98 v2, 128 meg mem, we always get a startup error: "Foxprow - An error has occured in your program, etc.," with 2 box choices: "Ignore" or "Cancel". Sometimes choosing "Ignore" will cause system to hang and reboot is necessary. On my Dell notebook, W2000 OS, Foxpro 2.6 will not run at all. 3 questions: 2. If we upgrade to a newer version of Foxpro, but keep the Win98 and Win2000 OS machines, what version will run under both OS's, and can we use our Fox source programs as presently written? 3. Is the command language still similar? Thank you. Bill W |

3 answers : 1. Can this problem be fixed for FoxproW 2.6? You seem to have the "divide by zero" problem. Yes it can be fixed. You have to patch the exe and esl files. Look in the archives. If you don't find anything, email me. 2. Visual FoxPro 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 wil run on those. The code will (hopefully) run, the forms you will have to change. Be prepared for a major rewrite however, VFP is a different animal. Many postings here have dealt with the conversion from 2.6 to 3.0 and beyond. 3. Is the command language still similar? Similar yes. The same, well not really. The OO approach means you generally do things differently. So a rewrite is probably the best way, if not the only way. We were all newbie's once.
