Default Extended Desktop - dual monitors - 07-02-2004 , 10:53 AM

FPW 2.6 application.

When I connect my laptop to an external monitor, I can 'check' extend desktop
to the 'secondary' monitor in display properties. With most windows application
like Word, Excel I can drag part of the screen to the secondary desktop and
work on either of the screens,

I am unable to do this with my FPW 2.6 application. Does anyone know why or
how it can be done.

I need this fuctionality very urgently for one of my customers who is 'adamant'
that he needs to see multiple screens at one time.. and I cannot get to do
this...

Any help on this issue is highly appreciated...

Shah

Shah,
FPW (and Windows 3.x which it was written for) knows nothing of multiple monitors. It wasn't until Win 95 and VFP 6.0 that multiple monitor support was available to FoxPro users and developers. Maybe this can be your "wedge" to upgrade the app to VFP 8.0/9.0!

Note: Multiple monitor support requires "new" Win32 API calls to recognize and use multiple monitors. While many newer Win32 apps can use multiple monitors, many don't. All you have to is fire up all the screen savers the MS supplies - even under XP - and you'll find that some only work on one monitor, some "duplicate" the action on all available monitors and a few actually treat multiple monitors as one big screen!
