Hi all,

I'm trying to simulate data mining for an intrusion detection system.
After searching through some of the forums, i realised that nobody
uses matlab to simulate data mining. Instead, some use sql server. I'm
not too sure how this is possible. Does the sql server have data
mining tools?

Also, I came across a tool called the ARMiner. Has anyone have any
comments about this tool for data mining?

I use MATLAB for data mining all the time. In fact, it is my
preferred tool. Did you have a more specific question about data
mining or using MATLAB for data mining?

Hi,

I've read up on data mining, it's more of the algorithm that's got me
all confused. But I think if I do more reading up, this would be
alright. I think my problem is in using MATLAB for data mining.

Right now, I'm trying to do link analysis (that's mining of
association rules, right?) using the apriori algorithm. I'm not too
sure how to start writing out the matlab code for that [I've found the
apriori code (in java format) from the ARMiner]. Also my test data is
in a text file. Is it necessary to put them into a database?
